How to choose turbine wafer butterfly valve and handle wafer butterfly valve

    Posted by Bundor valve
Turbine wafer butterfly valve and handle wafer butterfly valve are the two most common butterfly valves on pipelines. Both butterfly valves need to be manually operated to complete the opening and closing of the valve. The difference is that one is driven by a worm gear and the other is operated by a handle.
So how to choose turbine wafer butterfly valve and handle wafer butterfly valve? When to use a worm gear drive and when to use a handle to operate it?

The handle wafer butterfly valve directly drives the valve plate by the handle, and the switch is fast but laborious; the turbine wafer butterfly valve drives the valve plate through the worm gear, and the switch is slow but labor-saving. In view of this difference, when on low-pressure pipelines, both the handle wafer butterfly valve and the turbine wafer butterfly valve can be used, but from the perspective of cost, the handle wafer butterfly valve is cheaper than the worm wheel wafer butterfly valve, so the handle is used. The most cost-effective operation.
However, if it is on a medium and high pressure pipeline, the handle to the butterfly valve cannot be used, and the huge pressure also increases the torque of the butterfly valve. It is very difficult to use the handle to open and close the valve, or even can't be moved at all. In this case, it is much easier to use the worm gear to drive the wafer butterfly valve.
In addition to the pressure, there is also the size of the caliber, which affects the selection of the turbine wafer butterfly valve and the handle wafer butterfly valve. When the pipe diameter is less than or equal to DN200mm, both the turbine wafer butterfly valve and the handle wafer butterfly valve can be used, but it is the same as the above. , If considering the cost, choose the handle operation. As the diameter of the butterfly valve increases, the operating torque of the butterfly valve also increases. When the diameter of the pipeline is greater than DN200mm, it is difficult to open the butterfly valve by the handle, and only the turbine wafer butterfly valve can be used.
To sum up, it is recommended to use a handle wafer butterfly valve for low-pressure pipelines with a diameter of ≤200mm; for medium and high pressure pipelines with a diameter of >200mm, turbine wafer butterfly valves are more suitable.
